Purpose and Scope of the Position:

 

Our client is seeking a database geologist to be based in the office in CAR. This position requires a good knowledge of data management programs such as Microsoft office, as well as visual data programs, such as MapInfo and Micromine. Training will be provided before work commences. The ideal candidate will have an appreciation of ‘real world’ drilling and sampling issues and will assist in database management for both the feasibility study and for long range exploration.

 

Job Title and Reporting:

Your title will be: Database Geologist

You will report to the Exploration Manager.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Managing all exploration databases through:

- Designing and running validation queries;

            -Validating current and continuous exploration data;

            -Uploading assay, drill hole and surface sample data;

            -Continually improving manipulation of current surface samples;

            -Improving historic drill hole and surface sample data through validation;

            -Providing validated data for modelling and reporting.

            -Producing updated maps and x-sections

            -Providing weekly reports of drill hole assay results and statistics.

            -Reconciling cost data relating to assays, transport and drilling.

There will also be the opportunity for field based work, including :

            -Soil Sampling

            -Diamond core logging

            -Reverse circulation (RC) logging

            -Ground magnetics (GEM systems)

            -Mapping

            -Stream sediment sampling

 

Professional Requirement/Qualifications:

-          Degree in Geographical Information Systems/Science

-          Candidates with other qualifications will be considered provided they can demonstrate good IT skills and have experience in using MS Access.

-          An interest in geology will be a definite advantage.

-          Experience in PC troubleshooting and the ability to provide general PC support for approximately 20 users, would also be an advantage
